New Delhi: On November 5, 2012, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Indian Minister of New and Renewable Energy, has officially launched the so called “Solar Guidelines”: a database that aims to provide support to all stakeholders involved in solar projects in India by explaining the necessary administrative/legal formalities and the regulatory framework, from conceptualisation to commissioning.

The web based platform also includes federal and state specific information, which shall be for the benefit of project developers, administrative institutions, financial institutions and others.

In a first phase the database will contain information on the Federal level as well as on the Union State of Rajasthan. Phase two of the project will then see the roll out to other Union States.

The project has been jointly initiated by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, eclareon GmbH Management Consultants and E.Quadrat GmbH under the International Climate Initiative administered by German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, and the Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
